The Faculty of Medicine at Imperial is making significant strides towards embedding sustainability into its research and teaching, supporting Imperial's goal of becoming a net-zero carbon institution by 2040.

Despite the challenges of numerous refurbishments and moves over the past few years, these transitions have unlocked exciting opportunities for sustainability improvements across the Faculty.

Teams are already reducing energy consumption by upgrading old equipment, improving cold storage efficiency, consolidating orders to cut logistics impact, and promoting lab waste reuse and recycling.  They have set ambitious sustainability goals for their labs, including achieving LEAF certification (3 Bronze; 6 Silver; 1 Gold) and 'My Green Labs' Accreditation.
