How it Works

This exhibition material Reuse Hub is a pilot project exclusively for members of the Exhibition Road Cultural Group.

How it works:

AVAILABLE:  items which you are happy to lend can be listed, with images and measurements on this hub.

WANTED:  items which you are looking to borrow can also be listed on this hub.

Eligible Items

You can list and request a wide range of exhibition materials and furniture, including , for example:

  • Display cases
  • Plinths
  • Mannequins
  • Acrylic hoods
  • Frames

Please note that while items do not need to be in perfect condition, they should be of sufficient quality for reuse by another institution for an exhibition or display. Items that are damaged beyond repair or pose safety risks should not be listed and will not be published.

Please also note that this is not a platform for lending or borrowing accessioned collection items.  This hub should absolutely not be used as a mechanism for disposal.

How to Participate

1. Create a Listing

For AVAILABLE Items:

  • Complete the appropriate form.
  • Provide a detailed description of the item(s), including dimensions, material, condition, and any relevant history.
  • Include a few clear photographs showing all angles of the item to help potential recipients assess its suitability (and something for scale).

For WANTED items:

  • Complete the appropriate form.
  • Make your request as specific as possible so that readers can match you with suitable items.

2.  Respond to a Listing

  • To respond to a listing, please reach out directly to the contact named in that listing. It's then up to you to coordinate directly to discuss further details.

Important Terms and Conditions:

  • Approval Process: All submissions will be reviewed by the team prior to being published for appropriateness.  We reserve the right to reject any listings that do not meet our standards.
  • Transportation and Delivery: Users are responsible for arranging the transportation or delivery of items. This may involve organising a courier service or coordinating with the donor institution for pickup.
  • Costs and Logistics: All offers must be free. However, any transportation or delivery expenses will need to be covered by the receiving party, unless otherwise agreed between the parties involved. The lender and borrower will independently agree on the specific arrangements regarding dates, condition checks before and after use, costs and liabilities for repair or replacement in the event of damage or loss. Both parties are responsible for ensuring these terms are clearly understood and mutually accepted.
